In 2017 I was awarded a fellowship at Vermont Studio Center. During my stay there I set out to create a video installation using the projection screen to create tension between a real space and a representational space. I set up three frames in my studio, each roughly the size of a standard door. The frames were covered with stretched translucent fabric and suspended in front of a white backdrop. There were three cameras mounted on tripods, one for each frame. I invited all of my fellow artists-in-residence to participate by engaging with the frames as the cameras captured video on the other side of the fabric. At the end of the residency, I edited the compilation of videos and projected them back onto the screens during an open studio event. The result was a ghostly meditation on time and the traces we leave behind.
