VOLUMES at Distribution Hall, Austin, TX 2024
At Distribution Hall, 2 nights of performances featured musicians Nate Smith, Greg Fox, Val Jeanty, Ben Sloan, Michael Gonzales, and Brannen Temple. Each percussionist activated the light installation using acoustic drums equipped with Sensory Percussion, a system that transforms the surface of each piece of the drum kit into a dynamic tool for controlling electronic sound. Each musician developed their own sonic palette, which I then translated into a visual vocabulary within the light installation. The live interaction of sound, light, and space influenced each performer’s creative process. (Nothing is pre-recorded or pre-programmed. All electronic sounds/visuals are created live by the musician.)
